Fresh off Maryland official, in-state target has commitment timeframe

Fresh off his official visit to Maryland, Riverdale Baptist (MD) three-star defensive lineman Nahsir Taylor has a commitment timeframe.

“I think I’m going to commit on July 5th,” he told IBG.

Taylor, a 6-foot-2, 252-pound lineman, was planning to officially visit Notre Dame this weekend and set to check out Pitt next weekend, but both official visits have since been canceled.

Maryland jumped into the mix with Taylor with a verbal offer following camp while he was still an underclassman at Rock Creek (MD). Taylor drew verbal offers from Boston College, Georgia, Penn State, Oregon, Virginia Tech and Syracuse through the process, but the Terps became a bigger player for the in-state priority through the spring as assistant Aazaar Abdul-Rahim spearheaded efforts while defensive GA David Brownlee chipped in along the way.

Taylor admitted seeing the ample similarities between his fit in College Park and his current role at Riverdale Baptist, while veteran linebacker and former Riverdale Baptist star Donnell Brown hosted Taylor during his official visit before spending ample time around the defensive coaching staff.

“The campus, I loved it. The coaches, they just made me feel at home and I know I won’t get that experience anywhere else. The whole tour, the dinner cruise — everything. I felt at home.”

Maryland enters Saturday with nine verbal commitments and one along the defensive line in the 2025 class as Pa. DT Braheem Battles, who kicked off the cycle as the second commit, wraps up his official visit to College Park this weekend. Nahsir Taylor is rated a three-star prospect and an 84 overall by On3, checking in as the 41st-best prospect in Maryland.
