Maryland football releases freshmen jersey numbers, adds walk-ons

Maryland football is back in College Park with summer workouts in full swing, but after working with the bulk of the roster into June, head coach Mike Locksley and his staff now have their full team inside Jones-Hill House after the rest of the 2024 signees moved into Maryland beginning Saturday, June 15.

Maryland updated its online roster this week as the rest of the freshmen class received their jersey numbers:

One omission from the list is freshman lineman Mike McMonigle as sources tell IBG that the Pennsylvania lineman is expected to enroll in January. McMonigle committed to Maryland one year ago over Syracuse among others and made himself a frequent visitor in College Park through spring ball, acclimating himself with his position unit led by assistants Brian Braswell and Damian Wroblewski.

Maryland also included additional walk-ons to the 2024 roster from the local ranks:

QB Roman Jensen (Maret)
RB Colin Reynolds (Georgetown Prep)
DL Sam Adu (Laurel HS)
DL Akindele Dare (Eleanor Roosevelt)
DL Aaron Fovili (BCC)
P Philip Noyes (Pittsford Mendon)
K Chris Pond (Archbishop Curley)

Jensen announced his intention to play for Maryland after completing over 77% of his passes through his high school career, while he was named DC Touchdown Club HS Football Player of the Week as a senior and named MVP of the DCAA Class A title after Maret defeated Coolidge.

Reynolds, meanwhile, averaged over seven yards per carry and totaled 1,550 yards as a senior while adding 17 touchdowns en route to being named the IAC offensive player of the year.

Noyes announced his decision in December as he ranks as the 100th-best punter by Kohl’s kicking, while Pond announced his commitment back in February before heading to the Big 33 game, ranked as a five-star kicker and the 45th-best punter per Kohl’s Kicking.
