Good Counsel (MD) blue-chip safety Faheem Delane won DB honors at the Under Armour Camp in Baltimore on Sunday in likely his final camp of his high school career. Now, Delane is looking ahead to his official visits and commitment before he enrolls early at the school of his choice, becoming the first-ever WCAC player to do so. “I’m just trying to dominate. I’m trying to get ready for college. The high school stuff is cool,” Delane told IBG. Delane is set to take his four official visits in June starting with Maryland the weekend of May 31 before visiting Ohio State (June 7), Oregon (June 14) and LSU (June 21). “Including Tech, I’d say that’s the group I’m focusing on.” Delane’s official visit to Blacksburg was back in mid-April for their spring game where he was able to connect with older brother, Mansoor Delane, while freshman WR Chanz Wiggins served as his host. “It’s always family vibes over there. Coach Pry, I always say he’s one of my favorite coaches. He’s a genuine coach. He’s going to give it to you real. I like coach Marve. He’s a young coach, a lot of people don’t know about him. He’s cool people.” Delane was back on Maryland’s campus for a spring practice before returning to campus for the spring game and there’s a clear reason why the hometown team has remained in the mix. “It was cool up there. I was talking to Aazaar, that’s my man. I’ve known him for a minute. I’ve known him since I was five so he’s good people.” What can Maryland do to improve their standing? “Just production, win some games. Winning games gets more recruits, to be honest.” Ohio State hosted Delane for a spring practice with buzz that the Buckeyes are the team to beat heading into June, but Oregon has made itself a top competitor in his recruitment. “Coach Lanning, he’s a young mind. In the new day and age, I’d say he’s the new Saban.” What will Delane be asking about the most during his official visits? “I’d say development. I’m trying to go to the league and be a first rounder so development.” Delane added he’s looking to make his decision “probably summer or mid-season” with his recruitment set to pick up. Faheem Delane is rated a four-star prospect and a 92 overall by On3, checking in as the top player in Maryland and nation's ninth-best safety.
