CB Jett White backs off Maryland pledge

Maryland is back down to 21 commitments in the 2025 class after Edison (FL) three-star cornerback Jett White backed off his decision.

“1st off I want to thank [Terps football], [head coach Mike Locksley], [defensive coordinator Brian Williams] and everyone in the building for all the love and allowing me to further my education as a student athlete but after prayer and talks with my family I believe it’s in the best interest for me to decommit from the University of Maryland and open up my recruitment. Although I’m backing off my pledge to Maryland they will remain in consideration when I make my decision come December. I will be an early graduate and will enroll in college January 2025. As of now my faith is in God’s hands. Thanks,” White wrote on X/Twitter.

White, a 6-foot-2, 170-pound cornerback, previously committed to USC before backing off during his junior season as he went on to announce his pledge to Maryland during the All-American game back in January. White became the first pledge of the 2025 cycle after former assistant Henry Baker led the way with the out-of-state target.

Maryland still has a pair of commits in the fold with Spalding (MD) cornerback Jayden Shipps and Warwick (VA) four-star Messiah Delhomme leading the way, while the Terps class still ranks inside the top-35 in On3’s team rankings.
