Decision day arrives for Virginia four-star Messiah Delhomme

Decision day has arrived for Warwick (VA) four-star safety Messiah Delhomme, who will announce his decision at 7 PM from a top group including Maryland, Ohio State, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

The Buckeyes have drawn buzz as a team to watch throughout his recruitment while Virginia Tech has made Delhomme a priority target as head coach Brent Pry looks to lock down the area’s top talent. While little brother Virginia remains in the mix, Maryland has been involved with the four-star prospect since the start of his junior season as running backs coach Latrell Scott, along with coordinator of player personnel Marcus Thomas, have spearheaded efforts into the summer.

Delhomme made his way to College Park for the Illinois game last fall before returning for a spring practice, then his official visit to Maryland the weekend of June 21 as head coach Mike Locksley and his staff worked to reel in their top regional targets in the 2025 cycle.

“They told me to watch number 12 [Dante Trader Jr.],” Delhomme told IBG after his spring visit. “It’s definitely a good scheme I fit into. I was mainly watching the safeties get at it then after that I was watching them against the running backs and receivers.”

Maryland was one of four schools to host Delhomme for an official visit as the Hokies kicked off the schedule with a trip beginning May 31 before visiting Virginia (June 7) then Ohio State (June 14).

Delhomme shined in all three phases of the game for Warwick after posting over 2,100 all-purpose yards and 28 touchdowns over the last two seasons, though he is expected to miss at least the majority of his senior season after suffering a broken leg in the spring.

Messiah Delhomme is rated a four-star prospect and a 90 overall by On3, checking in as the eighth-best prospect in Virginia in the 2025 cycle.
