On holding off Nebraska on the road in the second half
“I've told everyone for the longest time since I got into this conference that this is one of the toughest places to play. It's a great fan base. They're loud. They're into the game. And I was really impressed with our guys that every time they made a run, we had a big time answer. And showed you that we've grown up a little bit as a team. Growing up. He didn't get too razzled at all. We just kind of stayed into and made some big plays. And give them some credit too because they made some big shots too.”
On Maryland’s efficiency on offense in the win
“The funny thing about is, the second time you play them, you understand their defense so much more. The first time we played them, we kept trying to throw in the post, throw in the post, and that's really what Fred [Hoiberg's] defense is designed to do, is let you throw it in the post but then take it away and they do such a good job. I think our guys had a better feel for what we had to do and were able to execute it.”
On the final four minutes, electing not to call timeout
“We had a good play called set up. We're just going to ghost a screen with [Ja’Kobi Gillespie] and let [Rodney Rice] take on Hoiberg one-on-one. I like that matchup. I didn't think we had a call timeout. I like having a couple [of] left if you have to use them towards the end of the game. But I liked our I liked our matchups, I liked our setup, and I thought, I thought we executed well.”
On Maryland’s frontcourt in the win
“[Julian Reese] had a tough game last game. But for the whole month of January, he's been a monster. He's – I think he's been the best big by far in the country. And I thought he came out again, and really was I thought his pick-and-roll defense was excellent. I thought he dominated the glass. And I thought him and Derik really did a good job of just like letting the game come to him. I think sometimes we get a little sped up in our pick-and-rolls and I think these guys are getting a little more confidence on in their pick and roll game.”
