Former Maryland guard Jahmir Young shines in summer league finale

After a breakout performance in his fourth summer league game, former Maryland guard Jahmir Young shined again on Saturday night. The former star Maryland guard finished with a team-high 21 points (7-of-17), five assists and three rebounds to just one turnover in 32 minutes of action in Saturday's 91-82 win over the Pelicans. Young's latest performance came two days after he posted 18 points (5-of-8), seven rebounds and a pair of assists to lead Denver to their first summer league win.

"Jahmir Young has another really nice outing for the #Nuggets in their 5th Summer League game: 21 points, 5 assists, 3 boards, led DEN in scoring & assists I'll be shocked if some smart NBA team doesn't scoop him up soon and sign him to at least a two-way deal," Joel Rush wrote on X. https://twitter.com/JoelRushNBA/status/1815044682487091434 Young signed an Exhibit 10 contract with Denver back on June 27 after going undrafted, allowing him to compete for an available two-way control through the summer while the franchise is expected to add veteran point guard Russell Westbrook following last week's sign-and-trade. The rookie guard has capitalized on an increased role in the last two games after averaging around ten minutes per game through the first three games, all losses for the Nuggets. Whether that materializes into a contract remains to be seen with Denver's summer league now wrapped up. Meanwhile, former Maryland forward Donta Scott and the Warriors are set to take on the Miami Heat in the semifinals at 4 PM on Sunday. Three days after scoring ten points against the Bulls on 50% shooting from the field, Scott finished with nine points in Wednesday's 11-point win over the Cavs. Related Links Power ranking Maryland football's offensive positions ahead of fall campMaryland football inching closer toward a top-25 class in 2025 cycleZymear Smith breaks down his decision to stay local, commit to MarylandAnalysis: four-star Zymear Smith to MarylandFour-star Zymear Smith becomes latest local to commit to Maryland
