With the transfer portal swirling following the 2024 season, we take a look back at how Terps who entered the transfer portal last offseason fared in 2024:
LB Jaishawn Barham: Barham was arguably the biggest loss for Maryland last offseason after he decided to put his name in the portal after two years with the Terps. He transferred to Michigan in hopes of boosting his stock for the NFL. Barham reached a career-high in tackles with 65 and passes defended with two. He also had one sack and started every game for the Wolverines.
TE Corey Dyches: Dyches was a top target for Maryland in 2022 and ‘23, catching 88 passes for 985 yards and five touchdowns in those two years. His departure via the transfer portal was surprising and he landed at California. There his production took a big hit, as he was the number two tight end behind Jack Endries. Dyches reached career lows in catches (17), yards (181), and touchdowns (one) in his final year of eligibility.
RB Antwain Littleton: Littleton left after three years at Maryland as a backup running back. He scored a touchdown in the first five games of the 2022 season but only two during the rest of his time as a Terp. Littleton transferred to Temple, where he was their second-leading rusher in 2024 with 305 rushing yards and a touchdown but only at 3.3 ypc. He also caught 16 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown.
IOL Khristopher Love: Love only appeared in two games as a reserve offensive lineman in his four years as a Terp. He transferred to East Texas A&M where he played in all 13 games for the Lions and recorded a tackle.
ILB Fa’Najae Gotay: Gotay got a seventh year of eligibility due to COVID-19 and a medical redshirt. He left the Terps after becoming one of Maryland’s hardest hitters at linebacker and went to Auburn. As a Tiger, he only appeared in five games and recorded five tackles.
TE Rico Walker: Walker appeared in eight games for the Terps as a true freshman in 2024. He joined Walker at Auburn where he didn’t record a catch in five games.
CB Gavin Gibson: Gibson played in 20 games in the Terp secondary in two years before transferring to East Carolina. He played in every game for the Pirates in 2024, starting 11 of them, tying for the team lead in interceptions with three, 47 tackles, three passes defended, and a forced fumble.
OL/TE Ja’Kavion Nonar: Nonar didn’t see the field in his two years as an offensive lineman for the Terps. He transferred to Florida Atlantic where he was moved to tight end and participated in six games but didn’t record a stat.
SAF Tamarcus Cooley: Following a redshirt year after only playing in two games for Maryland in 2023, Cooley transferred back home to NC State. He played in every game totaling 30 tackles, two tackles for loss, an interception, six passes defended, one sack, two QB hits, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery that he took 70 yards against Duke. The Wolfpack will face off against Gavin Gibson and East Carolina in the Military Bowl.
SAF Corey Coley: Coley spent three years as a part-time starter at corner for Maryland. He joined Cooley at NC State for his final year of college eligibility. As a Wolfpack, Coley competed in six games, collecting 10 tackles and two passes defended.
RB Ramon Brown: Brown was a big-time get for the Terps as a four-star prospect in 2022. Unfortunately, he never found his footing in a loaded Terp backfield, only carrying the ball 35 times in two years. Brown transferred to Division II Bluefield State and finished the season with 66 carries for 232 yards and a touchdown.
NOTE: Avantae Williams, Kobi Thomas, and Riyad Wilmot were not listed on any school’s roster last year.
