Jahmir Young signs two-way deal with Chicago, paired with two Terps

Former Maryland guard Jahmir Young is officially closer to getting his shot in the NBA after signing a two-way contract with the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday afternoon.

Young will also reunite with a pair of former Terps in the Windy City after the Bulls traded for Kevin Huerter at the NBA trade deadline, pairing him alongside former star big man Jalen Smith. The roster spot became open after the Bulls waived Adama Sanogo, who is now expected to be sidelined for about four weeks.

Young is eligible to play in up to 16 games this season with the Bulls in action on Thursday night against the New York Knicks at 7:30 PM.

Young has posted four 30-point games this season while averaging 22.4 points, 7.3 assists and two steals in 30 games with the Grand Rapids Gold, shooting nearly 48% from the field. The former Maryland star was initially signed to an Exhibit-10 contract with the Denver Nuggets, but this will be his first chance at cracking the NBA. Jahmir Young posted six points in Sunday's Up Next game where he was one of after being one of two to represent the Rapids during All-Star Weekend.

"It's a grind so I just try to think about my family," Young told WZZM-13. "My mom, single mom, she works. I'm the oldest of four so we're really close so I talk to her every day so she's definitely my motivation."

While he becomes one of three Terps now in Chicago, Young also becomes one of five former Maryland starters in the NBA alongside Alex Len (L.A. Lakers) and Aaron Wiggins (Oklahoma City).
