Maryland football has added its first portal commitment after flipping wide receiver Kaleb Webb from Wake Forest.
Webb, a former Tennessee wide receiver, committed to Wake Forest on Dec. 13 but backed off his pledge after head coach Dave Clawson stepped down on Dec. 16.
After redshirting in 2022, Webb amassed 22 catches for 214 yards and one touchdown over the last two seasons with the Vols. He entered the transfer portal back on Dec. 5, two days after it officially opened.
“I don’t know if anybody spends more time in the building catching balls off the JUGS,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said of Webb in 2023. “He’s always coming back for extra work in the middle of the day to understand what he’s doing, what he’s seeing to continue to grow within our offense, understanding defensive structure.”
Webb becomes the first portal commitment at the position with more expected after Tai Felton and Kaden Prather exhausted their eligibility following the 2024 season.
Webb, a former four-star in the 2022 class, committed to Michigan over Michigan and Louisville out of out of McEachern (GA). Webb was the Georgia High School Football Daily 2021 Region 2-7A Player of the Year after catching 83 passes for 1,601 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior in 2021.
He has two years of eligibility remaining.
