Maryland football announces the signing of eight transfers for 2025 season

Maryland football fans have watched several outgoing departures when the transfer portal frenzy kicked off on Dec. 9, but on Sunday, head coach Mike Locksley announced the signing of seven new additions in QB Justyn Martin, WR Kaleb Webb, WR Jalil Farooq, OT Jayvin James, TE Dorian Fleming, DL Eyan Thomas and CB Dontay Joyner.

 

Former Wake Forest cornerback Jamare Glasker, who announced his commitment on Saturday following his visit to Maryland, was announced shortly after.

  • Started nine games during the 2024 season for the Demon Deacons, finishing the year with 37 tackles (33 solo) to go along with four pass breakups, three tackles-for-loss, and an interception

  • Recorded his first collegiate interception to go along with five tackles, a tackle-for-loss, and two pass breakups against Virginia

  • Tallied six solo tackles and a career-high two tackles-for-loss against NC State

  • Saw action in nine games during the 2023 season for the Demon Deacons, making 16 tackles (14 solo) and one tackle-for-loss

  • Recorded a season-high five tackles against Notre Dame and Syracuse

  • Has two seasons of eligibility remaining

  • Started all 13 games in 2023, totaling 694 yards on 45 receptions (15.4 yards per catch) and two touchdowns 

  • 2023 Honorable Mention All-Big 12 Selection

  • Was named the Paul Hornung Award Player of the Week on 10/7/23 for his 130-yard receiving game against Texas 

  • Became first Sooner with at least 100 receiving yards and 100 kickoff return yards in the same game when he registered 126 yards and a touchdown on six catches and 105 yards on three kickoff returns (season-long 62-yarder) at Tulsa (9/16/23)

  • Consensus four-star and top-200 national recruit by 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals coming out of HS; Rated as the nation’s No. 109 overall player by ESPN

  • Ranked as the No. 6 player in Maryland by 247Sports coming out of high school

  • 2021 HS All-American bowl invitee; 2x All-Met Selection

  • Helped lead Wise to a 15-0 record and the Maryland 4A state title his junior season (caught five passes for 61 yards, rushed five times for 39 yards and a touchdown and had an interception in the championship game)

  • Appeared in three games for the Zips in 2023, for a total of 15 games of experience at Akron; has three seasons of eligibility remaining 

  • Helped lead Blanche Ely High School to a 10-1 record in 2022

  • Across two seasons at Arkansas State, played in 24 games with 69 tackles (45 solo), two interceptions and nine passes defended

  • In 2024, tallied 50 tackles (33 solo), a team-high seven pass breakups, and two interceptions (both coming against Power Four Opponents)

  • Earned an 81.0 defensive grade in 2024 per PFF; third-highest CB grade in the Sun Belt

  • Had a career-high eight tackles with one interception and one QB hurry against Michigan (9/14) 

  • Both interceptions in the 2024 season came against power conference teams (Michigan, Iowa State)

  • Helped Lakeland High School to a state title as a senior in Florida’s second-highest classification, leading the Dreadnaughts to a perfect 14-0 ledger

  • Played in two games in 2023 and redshirted in 2022, has two years of eligibility remaining 

  • Earned a spot on the Spring 2023, Winter 2023, Fall 2022 and Spring 2022 Athletic Director's Honor Roll

  • Named to the 2022-23 and 2023-24 Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll

  • Four-star recruit out of HS according to 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals 

  • Ranked No. 228 overall by Rivals and the No. 14 pro-style quarterback

  • Played in all 13 games during the 2023 season, totaling 16 receptions for 166 yards and a touchdown

  • Redshirted in 2022, appearing in three games

  • Two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member 

  • Rated a four-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite, 247Sports.com, On3.com and Rivals.com coming out of high school

  • Ranked as the No. 160 overall player and No. 22 wide receiver prospect in the country by On3.com
