Maryland football opens as healthy underdogs vs. USC

Next Saturday will feature a pair of teams sitting at .500 this season as Maryland welcomes USC to College Park for the first-ever matchup, and as expected, the Terps are healthy underdogs at home.

Maryland opens as an 8.5-point underdog, per DraftKings, ahead of Saturday’s homecoming game.

USC is coming off a 33-30 overtime loss vs. Penn State at home in a game they led by as many as 14 points, marking the second consecutive game that USC squandered a fourth-quarter lead. USC stormed back from a 21-10 deficit to take down Wisconsin at home, 38-21, to pick up its first Big Ten win as head coach Lincoln Riley looks to end his team’s two-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Maryland is coming off another deflating loss to fall to 3-3 (0-3) after Northwestern stormed out of College Park with a 37-10 win on Friday night. The ten points scored marked the fewest since November of 2022 in a “really difficult game” against the Wildcats.

“And again, it'll start with me. We made tough decisions here the last couple of weeks that will take some time that will be beneficial for us in the long run and I feel really confident that we can get this thing fixed and get it fixed sooner rather than later,” head coach Mike Locksley said after Friday’s loss.

Kickoff is set for 4 PM on FS1.
