Maryland football opens as underdogs on the road vs. Indiana

Maryland will look to move to 2-0 on the road when they hit the road to Bloomington next Saturday. With an opportunity to get back to .500 in conference play, Maryland will do so as underdogs on the road.

Maryland opened as 5.5-point underdogs vs. Indiana, per FanDuel, while the line has grown to 7.5 points in the hours since. The over/under is 54.5 points.

Led by first-year head coach Curt Cignetti, Indiana moved to 4-0 this weekend after dominating Charlotte at home in a 52-14 win. The Hoosiers’ 24-point win vs. FIU marked their closest game in the 2024 season to-date, while Indiana picked up a win in its Big Ten opener after steamrolling UCLA, 42-13, on the road.

Maryland, meanwhile, picked up its second consecutive win after taking of FCS opponent, Villanova, inside SECU Stadium in a 38-20 contest. QB Billy Edwards Jr. set a new program record with an 87.5% completion, while WR Tai Felton continued to rewrite the record books after amassing his fourth consecutive 100-yard receiving game to open the 2024 season.

Maryland and Indiana have split the ten matchups since Maryland joined the league in 2014, while the Hoosiers hold an all-time lead in the series, 7-5, after pulling out a pair of wins in the mid-1930s. Maryland has won in each of the last three matchups, though, after defeating the Hoosiers by a combined 35 points.

In Maryland’s last contest in Bloomington, it was QB Billy Edwards Jr. who made his first appearance as a Terp after relieving an injured Taulia Tagovailoa. Despite taking over with Maryland trailing to open the fourth quarter, Edwards led the offense on touchdown drives on consecutive possessions before his three-yard run with just over two minutes remaining cemented the road win.

Kickoff is set for noon on the Big Ten Network.
