Maryland men’s basketball just missed out on a top-15 matchup on Wednesday night.
Maryland rose four spots to 16th in the updated AP poll and was one of five ranked Big Ten teams alongside Michigan State (8), Wisconsin (11), Michigan (15) and Purdue (20). This marks Maryland’s highest AP ranking of the 2024-25 season and since week six of the 2022-23 season when the Terps' placed 13th.
Maryland also ranked 15th in the updated coaches poll, also their highest ranking of the season.
Maryland is back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 26 against Michigan State, who climbed six spots after defeating Purdue and Michigan last week. Wednesday’s game was ranked the top game of the week by Andy Katz with a sold-out student section already announced by the program.
Maryland will look to end a six-game slide against the Spartans before they travel to face Penn State on Saturday, March 1 in search of their first road win against the Nittany Lions since Feb. 14, 2015. Coming out of the weekend, Maryland sits third in the Big Ten with a chance to secure a double-bye in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament.
