Maryland men’s basketball remained inside the AP top 25 for the third consecutive week, climbing five spots to check in at 20th in Monday’s updated ranking.
Maryland drew 361 votes, one shy from 19th, and is one of five ranked Big Ten teams behind Wisconsin (11), Michigan (12), Purdue (13) and Michigan State (14). Maryland also rose five spots in the latest coaches poll, slotting in at 20th, as the lowest-ranked Big Ten team.
Maryland extended their win streak to three games after taking down Nebraska on the road, 83-75, three days before riding a dominant second half to take down Iowa. Maryland shot over 58% from the field in both wins, the first time Maryland has shot at least 58% in consecutive games in nearly ten years, to officially clinch a spot in the Big Ten Tournament.
“It’s February. Everyone win [is] huge. Everyone's battling for seeding and positioning and everything. So to get off this home stand with a W is huge,” head coach Kevin Willard added.
Maryland returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 20 when they host USC for an 8:30 PM tip.
