Maryland football is back in action this weekend against top-ranked Oregon with kickoff set for 7 PM on the Big Ten Network and they’ll do so as hefty underdogs, as expected.
Oregon opened as 26.5-point favorites vs. Maryland, per DraftKings. Maryland also opened as a 25.5-point underdog on FanDuel with the over/under opening at 59.5. Maryland is 3-5 against the spread this season.
This weekend’s game will mark the first between the two programs while the Nike vs. Under Armour marks an intriguing storyline heading into kickoff. Maryland will also look for its first win against a top-ten team since defeating eighth-ranked Boston College led by Matt Ryan in College Park, 42-35, back in 2007. Maryland is also looking for its first road win against a top-ten team since defeating eighth-ranked Virginia, 35-30, in a second-half comeback led by QB Scott Zolak.
Top-ranked Oregon moved to 9-0 (6-0) after beating Michigan, 38-17, as a last-minute touchdown cemented the convincing road win. Head coach Dan Lanning, who is 31-5 all-time as head coach, also moved to 22-0 against unranked opponents, a stat the Terps will look to change this weekend.
Maryland, sitting at 4-4 (1-4) is coming off their second and final bye of the season as this weekend marks the beginning of a pivotal month for the program. Between this weekend’s game and the season finale, head coach Mike Locksley will lead Maryland into a pair of road games against ranked opponents with home games against Iowa and Rutgers sandwiched in between.
