After being waived by the New England Patriots, Chad Ryland signed to Arizona’s practice squad before an injury to Matt Prater vaulted him into the starting lineup – and he didn’t disappoint. A matchup of former Terp safeties took place in the Colts-Jaguars game. Indianapolis safety Nick Cross finished with five tackles and his first interception of the season on a deep pass intended for Brian Thomas. It didn’t lead to anything though as Jaguar safety Darnell Savage, in his season debut, made a big play of his own keeping Josh Downs away from a pass on third down. The following punt was returned for 53 yards which set Jacksonville inside the 20 and would score on just one play. Savage finished with three tackles and Jacksonville got their first win of the season on a last-second field goal.
Browns defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson played but recorded no stats as Cleveland would get handled 34-13 against Washington. Guard Michael Dunn saw action for the first time this season after being activated off the Non-Football/Illness list.
For the second time in three weeks, Texans receiver Stefon Diggs would face off against a former team when Buffalo came to Houston. Diggs led the team in receiving with six catches for 82 yards as a last-second Ka’imi Fairbairn 59-yard field goal lifted the Texans over the Bills. Bills running back Ty Johnson did not keep his touchdown streak going, finishing with three carries for 15 yards.
Bears DJ Moore was another Terp going up against his former team with Carolina coming to town. Moore and quarterback Caleb Williams had the breakout game that fans were waiting for, recording his first 100-yard receiving game of the season after finishing with 105 yards and a pair of touchdowns on five catches. Defensive Tackle Byron Cowart had a tackle in the Bears’ 36-10 win.
Raiders corner Jakorian Bennett had two tackles and a pass defended, while OT DJ Glaze started his second straight game as Las Vegas would fall short 34-18 against the Broncos. WR DJ Turner caught one pass for 12 yards.
CB Deonte Banks and the Giants rebounded against the Seahawks in Seattle. The defense gave up 13 points in the 29-20 win, one touchdown was on a fumble at the goal line. Banks finished with 6 tackles and 3 passes defended. Seahawks tight end Tyler Mabry did not play.
Steelers offensive lineman Spencer Anderson was the swing man on a Pittsburgh offensive line decimated by injuries. The Steelers would fall to the Cowboys on Sunday night 20-17.
