Terps In the NFL: Week Two Review

With no Terps in action on Monday night, we break down how Terps fared in week two of the NFL season:

In a Sunday night matchup featuring a pair of Terp receivers, Stefon Diggs and the Texans bested DJ Moore’s Bears 19-13. Diggs finished second on the team in catches (4) and yards (37) for the Texans. Moore led the Bears in those categories with 6 and 53, respectively. Bears defensive tackle Byron Cowart did not play.

Safety Nick Cross led the Colts in tackles for the second week in a row with 15 but Indianapolis couldn’t complete a comeback against Green Bay, falling 16-10. Through two weeks, Cross leads the NFL in tackles (29).

OL Spencer Anderson and the Steelers moved to 2-0 and caught sole possession of first place in the AFC North with their 13-6 win over the Broncos. Anderson once again got the start at left guard.

RB Ty Johnson and the Bills opened up the week with a 31-10 win over the Dolphins. Johnson only had one carry for -1 yard but caught a 33-yard pass that was one yard away from a touchdown. James Cook finished off the drive one play later, which gave Buffalo a 17-7 lead.

Bucs WR Rakim Jarrett is still on IR for at least two more weeks. The team avenged their playoff loss to the Lions by defeating them in the rematch 20-16 to move to 2-0.

The Titans were in a back-and-forth battle with the Jets, with New York coming out on top 24-17. Tight end TE Chig Okonkwo caught three passes for 16 yards. Tackle Jaelyn Duncan was the swing tackle for the second week.

DL Sam Okuayinonu and the 49er defense had a rough time against Sam Darnold and the Viking offense. A 97-yard touchdown catch by Justin Jefferson was the difference as Minnesota won 23-17.

TE Tyler Mabry and the Seahawks were in the only overtime game in week 2, a field goal ending their game against New England and coming out of it 2-0.

With their kicker out after the opening kickoff, CB Deonte Banks couldn’t overcome the Commanders’ going 7-for-7 on field goal attempts and lost 21-18. Banks finished with four tackles and one pass defended.

Despite returning to practice this week, Chargers corner CB Tarheeb Still was inactive for the Chargers 26-3 win over the Panthers, as was Ravens safety Beau Brade for the second consecutive week.

DL Quinton Jefferson and OL Michael Dunn’s Browns bested SAF Darnell Savage and the Jaguars 18-13. Dunn is still on the Non-Football Illness list but Jefferson finished with his first sack of the year, along with a tackle for loss. Savage was inactive after hurting his quad in practice.
