Cy Falls (TX) offensive tackle Samir Camacho switched around his official visit schedule, making this past weekend’s trip to Maryland his first to College Park. With safeties coach Zac Spavital leading his recruitment, Camacho admitted the immediate comfort he felt around the coaching staff with defensive lineman Jordan Phillips serving as his host. “I felt at home. it was an outstanding visit, the hospitality,” Camacho told IBG. “It’s a family-based team. something that stood out to me was coach Locks, the staff and everybody there is building a championship team. I hope to be a part of it in the future and I haven’t decided on schools, but Maryland is definitely top one right now.” Camacho said the highlight of the visit was getting to know head coach Mike Locksley. “He’s a hell of a person, hell of a coach and what he’s doing with the program is outstanding.” Getting feedback from the players was another key focus on Camacho’s to-do list as he evaluated the Terps and Phillips’ feedback matched what the coaching staff has pitched thus far in his recruitment. “He’s telling me how it’s family-based. Everything he was saying was true. He’s a hell of a person.” Camacho confirmed that he’s scratched plans to officially visit Kansas with his next official visit set for Duke next weekend. In-state Texas A&M also jumped into the picture, but Camacho said the Aggies may not get a look ahead of a decision. “Texas A&M wants me to take a visit but I don’t know about that. They’re not as family-based as Maryland.” Camacho is still planning to make his decision by early July. “I’m definitely going to play out this whole month then I’ll find a spot.” Camacho is not yet rated by On3 but is rated a three-star and an 85 overall by 247Sports.
