The dead period has wrapped up and after hosting visitors during the week, Maryland football will welcome a handful of 2024 targets alongside their current commits while getting a chance to lay the foundation for the 2025 class. We take a look at who is expected in College Park on Saturday afternoon. Maryland will look to keep its recruiting momentum going into August and they’ll get a pair of top targets on campus this weekend in Highland Springs (VA) three-star quarterback Khristian Martin and King George (VA) three-star WR Mekhai White. Martin is set to make his commitment on Sunday between Maryland and Virginia, and ever since his official visit to College Park the weekend of June 23, the Terps have had the juice in his recruitment thanks to running backs coach Latrell Scott leading the way. l still love where Maryland sits with him heading into the weekend. They’d love to pair Martin with White, who is inching closer to decision mode with both Maryland and Virginia Tech in the conversation with the momentum swinging back in the Terps’ favor. White hasn’t set a formal commitment date, but is expected to make his decision in early August. Maryland will also look for more good news next month when Texas offensive tackle Samir Camacho announces on August 13. I love where the Terps sit with the 6-foot-5 tackle with Duke and UTSA rounding out his top group as this weekend gives Camacho his second trip to College Park as safeties coach Zac Spavital continues to pave the way by leaning on his connections throughout the Lonestar State. Syracuse verbal and St. Michael (VA) three-star linebacker Michael Matthews-Canty has been on the radar since late spring as Maryland and inside linebacker coach Lance Thompson monitor the 6-foot-2 target. Matthews-Canty will make the trip to College Park with his coach and brother for his first unofficial visit to College Park. Bowie (MD) defensive end Sultan Badmus picked up an offer during camp season with tight ends coach Kevin Sumlin chipping away at the local under-the-radar edge rusher with a December official on the table and now, Badmus will make the short trip to College Park. Despite Maryland’s verbal offer and patient approach to watch him through his senior year, Badmus took note of the transparency that Sumlin has provided the 6-foot-4 lineman, something other schools haven’t done through his recruitment. Another local recruit with an offer that the Terps are monitoring through the fall is St. Mary’s (MD) offensive tackle Davon Watkins, who camped last month. Maryland will also welcome other 2024 recruits like St. Mary’s Ryken (MD) lineman Cameron Jones and Mergenthal (MD) linebacker Lindsey Tankard to campus, along with several of their current 2024 commitments with Mike Hershey, Anthony Robsock, Lloyd Irvin, DeJuan Williams, Terez Davis, Anthony Reddick and Jahmari Powell-Wonson all back in College Park. Saturday will primarily be about the underclassmen as the staff could see some elite talent on campus. Angela-St. Joseph (OH) four-star RB Bo Jackson confirmed he will unofficially visit Maryland this weekend as the Terps look to set the bar high early. McDonogh (MD) four-star athlete Jeff Exinor, who also suits up for Team Thrill and is drawing mid-major interest on the hardwood, will make his way back to College Park with the top athlete target already familiar with the Terps. Friendship (DC) four-star defensive tackle Bryce Jenkins, who shined during the camp circuit regardless of competition, will also make his way back to campus after visiting twice in the spring. North Carolina three-star tight end Gus Ritchey, who we profiled this week, is also a candidate to visit this weekend, as is Good Counsel (MD) four-star safety Faheem Delane with a desire to visit a school closer to home if he does opt to hit the road. Good Counsel will have a presence on campus regardless if Delane makes it in with three-star offensive linemen Eidan Buchanan and Gavin Crawford, along with edge rusher Delano Brown unofficially visiting tomorrow. Another local target set to visit campus is Gonzaga (DC) cornerback DeVenchi Arnold, who will make the trip in with his family. Monarch WR Jabari Brady will also visit, as previously reported, while Woodberry Forest (VA) SAF Sheldon Robinson is a late add to the list. Quince Orchard four-star RB Iverson Howard won’t make it in after all this weekend, but cornerback Aydan West will with the staff showing consistent interest following his sophomore season. St. Frances composite four-star LB CJ Smith will also make his way to campus early with the Terps hosting the local target on multiple occasions already in 2023. DE Dillon Newton-Short and WR Bryce Yates are two targets out of Matoaca (VA) who have made themselves familiar faces over the last year with multiple visits, and Saturday will be no different with them back in College Park. Three-star WR Vernon Allen, the teammate of Jahmari Powell-Wonson, could also make his way to campus as assistants Lance Thompson and Gunter Brewer team up in the early stages. Other 2025 recruits expected to be in attendance are Spalding SAF Trent Gillis and three-star CB Jayden Shipps, Calvert Hall (MD) CB Byron Baldwin, Don Bosco (NJ) CB Marquet Dorsey, Green Run (VA) WR Emmanuel Taylor, St. Frances WR Jeremiah Koger, Episcopal (VA) WR Reed Phillips and Catholic ATH Logan Christensen. 2026 wide receivers Dyzier Carter and Chris Hewitt will also make their way in, while new St. Frances (MD) safety Jireh Edwards will return to College Park where he’s also been a familiar face in the early stages of his recruitment.
