A handful of notes that I’ve gathered with the open period still in effect:
Another visitor this weekend is King George (VA) three-star athlete Mekhai White, who will make the trip in with his parents. No word yet on whether his four-star teammate Chanz Wiggins will end up making it in as well as both sit high on the board, but this weekend will give a chance to strengthen their chances in the early stages of his recruitment.
Wide receiver coach Gunter Brewer was also by to check in on Bishop McDevitt (PA) four-star WR Rico Scott this week. I’d keep Scott as ‘cool’ on the big board as Intel says Maryland is in the second tier of top schools.
Meanwhile, offensive line coach Brian Braswell stopped through Charlotte to get a look at a handful of offensive linemen, one being Lake Norman (NC) four-star tackle Ethan Calloway. Maryland joined a long list of schools to jump in for the 6-foot-7, 300-pound lineman as they’ll work to get him onto campus. Meanwhile, running backs coach Elijah Brooks made the rounds through Philadelphia through the first half of the week, including a stop at Imhotep to check on three-stat defensive back Kenny Woseley. Maryland has made themselves a familiar face after at least three visits to campus through his recruitment and is most recently coming off a visit to Rutgers.
Outside linebacker coach James Thomas met with the Harris twins tonight as Maryland continues to trend in his recruitment. That leaves the biggest in-home left for the rest of the week: five-star ATH Nyck Harbor. I mentioned in the forum earlier, but Maryland continues to hold an edge in his recruitment with Mike Locksley, Elijah Brooks and Gunter Brewer set to go in-home on Wednesday night. Oregon remains the final hurdle as they roll out the red carpet and highlight an extensive NIL package that features the possibility of becoming a Nike athlete. I view the Ducks as Maryland’s biggest threat down the stretch. Meanwhile in College Park, the early enrollees have moved onto campus along with the transfer additions with player-run practices in full swing. The lone outstanding roster note remains the status of wide receiver Jeshaun Jones, who I expect will announce his return for a sixth season this week.
