King George (VA) three-star wide receiver Mekahi White has made Maryland a familiar spot in his recruitment over the last year, so it was only fitting for the Terps to kick off the month with his first official visit. White made the trip to College Park with both his parents and mentors while veteran wide receiver Robert Smith served as his host. “Pretty much everything,” White said when asked about the highlight of the visit. “It’s really a family oriented place. I’ve never been so comfortable around people like this. They checked all the boxes for my family and I.” A big reason for the ample familiarity is due to wide receiver coach Gunter Brewer, who has led his recruitment as the Terps have prioritized the Virginia wideout since the beginning of the recruiting process. Maryland also dove into TBIA Foundation during the official visit weekend before taking a dinner boat on Saturday night followed by breakfast at head coach Mike Locksley’s house on Sunday, but for White, the familiarity with the program was evident through the weekend. “I didn’t really see anything new. I have been up there a lot so I pretty much already seen everything. I definitely learned a lot from their players and coaches,” White added. The 6-foot-2 receiver intends to take two more official visits with current plans to officially visit Arkansas next weekend, then Virginia Tech the weekend of June 23. White, however, tells IBG the Arkansas visit could be replaced with a potential official visit to Penn State. White is rated a three-star prospect and an 88 overall by On3, sitting as the 16th-best prospect in Virginia. Related Links
