With the NFL Draft less than a week away and the final round of mocks coming in, Maryland football could have multiple players selected by Saturday afternoon, including a chance of at least one day two selection.
WR Tai Felton
NFL.com (Chad Reuter): 2nd Round, Baltimore
33rd Team Seven-Round: 3rd Round, Los Angeles Rams
PFF: 4th Round, Washington
Walter Football’s Charlie Campbell Six-Round: 4th Round, Miami
College Football Network Seven-Round: 4th Round, Washington
NFL Draft Countdown’s Brian Lamb Seven-Round: 4th Round, Miami
Tankathon Four-Round: 4th Round, Philadelphia
Walter Football Six-Round: 5th Round, Minnesota
Felton was Maryland’s top offensive talent and the mocks back that statement. Among the eight drafts listed, Felton was the first offensive player selected from Maryland in seven of them. The only exception was from Walter Football’s Charlie Campbell’s six-rounder. Felton was the only Terp to be drafted in every mock listed. The other Walter Football mock was the only one not to have him go before the fifth round. Three drafts involved Felton being selected by a DMV team. PPF, and College Football Network have Washington selecting him in the fourth round, with Baltimore grabbing him in the second round in NFL.com’s Chad Reuter seven-rounder. Both could use Felton as a third or fourth option at receiver with a chance to grow into a bigger role over time. Reuter’s mock was one of two, besides Campbell’s where he didn’t come off the board in the fourth round. That other mock belonged to the 33rd Team with the Rams taking him as depth behind Puka Nacua, Davonte Adams, and Tutu Atwell. Other interesting teams that Felton was projected to were Philadelphia, who need depth behind AJ Brown and Devonte Smith, and Miami, where questions arose this offseason about how long Tyreek Hill will remain on the roster.
DT Jordan Phillips
33rd Team Seven-Round: 3rd Round, Houston
NFL Draft Countdown’s Brian Lamb Seven-Round: 3rd Round, Giants
PFF: 4th Round, Atlanta
Tankathon Four-Round: 4th Round, Cleveland
College Football Network Seven-Round: 4th Round, Tampa Bay
NFL.com (Chad Reuter): 5th Round, LA Chargers
Walter Football’s Charlie Campbell Six-Round: 6th Round, Baltimore
While Felton is the top Terp offensive player, he was only the first one off the board in two mocks. The Terp that came off the board first the most was DL Jordan Phillips, where half of the mocks saw him be the first to hear his name called and got selected in all but one. Six of the seven listed him as the first defensive Terp to hear his name called. Two mocks, 33rd team and NFL Draft Countdown had Phillips going in the third round, with every other one projecting him on day three. Campbell’s mock had the Ravens selecting him in the sixth round. Baltimore has been one of the best at developing defensive linemen over the years and has a need following the retirement of Michael Pierce. Chad Reuter has John’s brother Jim taking him in the fifth round. Jim, former head coach of Michigan, saw Phillips play up close when the Wolverines faced against Maryland in 2023.
SAF Glen Miller
NFL.com (Chad Reuter): 6th Round, Detroit
College Football Network Seven-Round: 7th Round, San Francisco
Miller was also selected in Reuter’s mock in the sixth round, with the Lions taking him. The Lions’ defense was devastated by injuries last year and Miller would come in as depth to start. College Football Network has Miller as one of the final picks in the draft, going 249th overall to the 49ers.
WR Kaden Prather
Walter Football’s Charlie Campbell Six-Round: 3rd Round, Jacksonville
Walter Football Six-Round: 5th Round, Dallas
College Football Network Seven-Round: 6th Round, LA Chargers
NFL Draft Countdown’s Brian Lamb Seven-Round: 7th Round, Atlanta
33rd Team Seven-Round: 7th Round, Atlanta
NFL.com (Chad Reuter): 7th Round, Atlanta
Kaden Prather seems to have the edge, as the receiver has been taken in six of the eight mocks. WalterFootball’s Charlie Campbell has him as the first Terp off the board, being selected in the third round by Jacksonville. Following the release of Gabe Davis and the trade of Christian Kirk, the Jaguars require receiver help for quarterback Trevor Lawrence, with Brian Thomas as the number one and Dyami Brown, and Parker Washington slated as the two and three targets, respectively. Besides Campbell, every other mock with Prather has him as a day-three pick. Atlanta seems to be a popular destination, with his name being called by them in the seventh round. The Falcons’ top four seem to be set with Drake London, Darnell Mooney, Ray-Ray McCloud, and Jamal Agnew but Prather could find his way on the roster as the last receiver.
LB Ruben Hyppolite
NFL.com (Chad Reuter): 6th Found, Las Vegas
Hyppolite was only in Chad Reuter’s being taken in the sixth round by the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders lost both of their top tacklers, Robert Spillane and Divine Deablo to free agency, and could use some more depth at the position.
SAF Dante Trader Jr
Walter Football Six-Round: 3rd Round, Cleveland
Walter Football’s Charlie Campbell Six-Round: 4th Round, Philadelphia
33rd Team Seven-Round: 6th Round, LA Chargers
College Football Network Seven-Round: 7th Round, Miami
After Prather, Dante Trader appeared on four mocks, going in different rounds each time. Walter Football’s Charlie Campbell has him going in the fourth round to Philadelphia, while Cleveland scoops him up in the third with the other Walter Football draft. Philadelphia is coming off a Super Bowl victory and could use Trader as a third safety behind Reed Blankenship and Sydney Brown. Cleveland is a bit of a wild card, due to their team future and there not being a clear starter at safety besides Grant Delpit. The last two mocks to feature Trader are College Football Network, where Miami takes him in the seventh, and the Chargers selecting him in the sixth on the 33rd Team, reuniting with corner Tarheeb Still.
