Coming off their two-game win streak on the road, Maryland men’s basketball found themselves even more safe on the right side of the bubble.

CBS Sports, which had Maryland among the ‘First Four Out’ last week, is one of eleven outlets to project Maryland as a ten-seed while Otter Bracketology had the lowest projection with a 12-seed. And for the first time in weeks, Maryland’s potential second-round matchup didn’t feature a former ACC rival with Florida, Iowa State and Tennessee the high-seeded teams projected to await the winner of the first-round matchup.
Maryland is looking to make it back into the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three seasons under head coach Kevin Willard and they’re also inching closer toward their first ranking in two years.
Maryland unofficially drew 116 points in Monday’s updated AP poll, 15 points shy of 25th-ranked UConn, but they’ll look to change that this week when they host 17th-ranked Wisconsin. This marks the second consecutive week that Maryland has faced the 17th-ranked team nationally after taking down Illinois in Champaign, 91-70, last week. Maryland is also looking for its third win over a ranked team this season.
