Which Maryland football freshmen burned redshirts in 2024?

After Maryland wrapped up the September slate in the 2024 season, we take a look at which freshmen have already burned through a redshirt, who is close to doing so and the rest of the class.

Already played through redshirt

OLB Trey Reddick: 5

CB Kevyn “Kerm” Humes: 5

A pair of early enrollees, Reddick and Humes have become integral pieces in the OLB and CB rotation to open the season. Reddick recorded two tackles against both Indiana Villanova, while he recorded his first career tackle for loss midway through the second quarter vs. Indiana. Humes, meanwhile, recorded three tackles against both Michigan State and Villanova as the high-ceiling, shifty cornerback gets his first college reps in a young room.

One game away from burning redshirt

CB Braydon Lee: 4

SAF Brandon Jacob: 4

CB Judah Jenkins: 4

Two more early enrollees, Lee recorded his first career tackle vs. Indiana while Jacob, who was banged up in Saturday’s road loss, has recorded eight total tackles including four vs. Villanova. Like Lee, Jenkins also recorded his first career tackle vs. Villanova as Maryland looks to get its young secondary more experience into the rest of the season.

Rest of the freshmen

OL Terez Davis: 3

LB Keyari James: 3

SAF Shamar McIntosh: 3

RB Josiah McLaurin: 3

OL Michael Hershey: 3

LB Keion Flowers:  2

LB Keyshawn Flowers: 2

OL Ryan Howerton: 1

OL Anthony Robsock: 1

CB La’Khi Roland: 1

OL Trevor Szymanski: 1

RB DeJuan Williams: 1

After playing in the season-opener, OL Terez Davis watched his playing time soar over the last two weeks after first lining up at left tackle vs. Villanova, then lining up at right tackle in the second half vs. Indiana. The high-ceiling lineman has the positional versatility to play across the line as he drew praise for his borderline start vs. Villanova with OT Andre Roye sidelined.

LB Keyari James recorded a tackle against both UConn and Villanova while also appearing vs. Virginia, while SAF Shamar McIntosh recorded one tackle against UConn and Indiana and appeared vs. Villanova. LB Keyshawn Flowers has recorded five tackles, including four vs. Villanova, while Keion added one of his own vs. UConn. OG Ryan Howerton, meanwhile, lined up at guard vs. UConn though he's not listed on Maryland's participation report.

Both freshmen RBs – Josiah McLaurin and DeJuan Williams – found the endzone in their first career game vs. UConn while McLaurin added a five-yard reception vs. Virginia and also appeared vs. Villanova.

Hershey, meanwhile, has been consistently taking snaps at center with the second-team since the first scrimmage of fall camp. OLs Trevor Szymanski and Anthony Robsock both lined up at guard vs. Villanova. CB La’khi Roland appeared in the week one win vs. UConn.
