Maryland has been an active player in the transfer portal, though, as head coach Mike Locksley announced the addition of eight new transfers back on the morning of Dec. 22. WRs Jalil Farooq and Kaleb Webb fill a key role to replenish the top of the unit, while OT Jayvin James gives the offensive line a high-ceiling piece to insert in the two deep after stepping into a full-time starter role in 2024. DL Eyan Thomas becomes the second transfer from Saint Francis during the Locksley era where he and Lavon Johnson are able to replenish the interior defensive line, a key need for the Terps after Jordan Phillips, Tommy Akingbesote and Taizse Johnson departed. CBs Dontay Joyner and Jamare Glasker arrive in January looking to fill the starting spots left vacant in a necessary overhaul at the position this offseason. Meanwhile, Maryland turned to UCLA QB Justyn Martin as its portal quarterback of the offseason after Billy Edwards Jr. departed for Wisconsin. TE Dorian Fleming replaces the outgoing production of Dylan Wade and Preston Howard as the unit looks to bolster its blocking.

Meanwhile, DL Lavon Johnson announced his intention to return to the program just three days after entering the transfer portal, serving as a big offseason win for the program at a position of need.
