Zion Elee to Maryland: how it happened, what it means, what's next

Days after signing arguably the most complete class of the Mike Locksley era, Maryland football went out and landed the nation’s top prospect in the 2026 class in five-star St. Frances (MD) edge Zion Elee with attention beginning to shift toward the next cycle.

 

It’s a surprising move to many across the recruiting world, but for those watching the Terps’ efforts with the blue-chip prospect through the fall knew that Maryland was a serious player with Aazaar Abdul-Rahim spearheading a collective staff effort. Elee noted after his commitment that it was the USC game when the Terps began to trend differently in his mind, the visit he told IBG “changed my perspective” on Maryland.
